Be free and bold

Festivals are a place of freedom, the freedom to be yourself, to be as bold and as colourful as you want to be! It's where I love to spend my time and dance amongst all the inspiration.

Here are my top festivals (which my family and I enjoy) and where I try out all my newest jewellery ranges!

Elderflower fields

Elderflower fields is set in the beautiful landscape of Pippingford Park, East Sussex with natural streams to explore and woodland activities.

We love this festival as it feels safe for kids to roam free and a lot of the activities are nature based such as campfire cooking and tree climbing. The music lineup is always great with headliners such as Mista Trick Collective, Ed Solo and Jessi G (Jungle Cakes), Mr B The Gentleman Rhymer and Big Fish Little Fish.

Favourite parts of the weekend:
•The Family Dance Off - where dedicated families adorn their best hand made costumes to theme and compete in a family dance off to win a family ticket to the festival.
•The So Sussex Family Picnic - where you get to share local produce and make
new friends.

Theme: 2024’s is Fairytales Gone Wrong vs Rubbish Ideas

Timber

We love this festival for its art installations and live theatre performances. Timber festival is set in the national forest in a 70 acre woodland site on the Leicestershire/ Derbyshire border.
Sustainability is at the heart of this festival with encouraged festival goers often walking or cycling to the festival. It is really nice to watch them being greeted as they arrive at the festival.

Favourite parts of the weekend:
•Sitting around the campfire listening to tall tales, songs and stories.
•Watching all the outdoor theatre shows.

Theme: No theme just wear what makes you feel comfortable.

Good Vibrations Society

Another festival close to our heart is Good Vibrations Society. A great family friendly festival all about music, community and relaxation.

Only in its third year, this festival feels like it has been building a community for decades. We love this festival because it feels like home. Mixing generations of young and old, with a great zero waste kids area run by fun engaging facilitators with arts and craft workshops for all to try.

Dabble in robotics, juggling, fabric printing, wacky races, and making beats with recycled treasures. There are games for adults too (because play is for everyone) and seating for those tired, dancing feet. At this festival you can catch big artists on the main stage, or head into the rest of the festival to discover interesting talks and acoustic sounds. On the main stage you’ll find headliners such as Morcheeba, Leftfield and Goldie.

Favourite parts of the weekend:
•Dancing to drum & bass in the Warren at night.
•Rolling down the big hill with the Hive facilitators.

Theme: The theme is whatever you feel comfortable in!

Just So

Focused on nature and animals, Just So Festival is a family festival like no other. Discover dance workshops, live theatre, silent disco, giant marble run, Ministry of Silly Dances, crafting workshops, DJs, and dance the Family Ceilidh. Come dressed as your favourite animal, as the fabularium encourage teamwork and creativity to earn points over the weekend.

Favourite parts of the weekend:
•The Cut-A-Shine Ceilidh. Who doesn’t love an organised dance? Come rain or shine this family ceilidh always brings smiles to everyone’s faces
•The Carnival of the Animals. We love getting involved in earning points during the weekend and guessing which animal might win.

Theme: Choose to join the fish, frog, fox, owl, lion, stag or bees, dress up if you like (lots of people do), take part in animal shenanigans over the weekend to win points, then march with your team on Sunday evening to find out who is victorious.

Womad

What we love about Womad is that there is a dedicated kids area for all ages, with activities for toddlers as well as bigger kids. It’s a great area with circus equipment and instruments out to play with all day. You can see some great acts on the stage and see walk around puppets or take part in art activities.

The line up is always vibrant with amazing acts from all over the world. This year you can see big artists such as Amadou and Miriam, Gorgol Bordello and Alison Goldfrapp.

Favourite parts of the weekend:
•The parade on Sunday is a really lovely vibe to be part of. You can make props over the weekend at the arts tent and join in on the fun.
•We love the workshops at Womad, run by the musicians. Learn to cook a signature dish or how to play an instrument. You’ll find workshops covering
everything from Brazilian folkloric dance to Palestinian singing, or learn to play giant xylophones and the Kora.

Theme: No theme, just be as colourful as you want to be.
